TRIO Success Center
The Success Center offers student-focused services such as academic advising, counseling, mentoring, tutoring and a summer institute for new students. Trained professionals and retention specialists work with students in planning their academic program, monitoring their academic progress in each course and arranging intervention programs to facilitate their academic success.
Students We Serve
The Success Center serves St. Cloud Technical College students who have a serious commitment to academic excellence and completing their college curriculum within a timely manner. Students who are: disabled, low income or first generation college students.
Programs & Services
1. Summer Institute
Selected new students attend a summer institute to improve their skills in reading, writing, math and study skills before they go to classes. They take tuition-free courses and participate in workshops.
2. Career Planning
Counselors work with students to develop their individual career plans.
3. Academic Counseling and Advising
An advisor or counselor is assigned to students to help develop their academic plan and assist them in getting good grades. The assigned advisor or counselor closely monitors student’s academic progress in each course.
4. Tutoring and Group Study Opportunities
Timely intervention programs are offered to students who need help in courses. Tutoring and group study opportunities are available.
5. Mentoring Programs
As part of the Peer Mentoring Program, students work with a peer mentor who introduces them to a wide variety of resources, faculty and staff at the college. Additionally, the Career Mentoring Program introduces students to their professional fields.
6. Financial Aid Information
Although the Success Center does not provide financial aid, they provide information and assist students in getting full financial aid through the college Financial Aid Office.
7. Transfer to Four-Year College
Necessary contacts and information are provided to students planning on transfering to a four-year college or university after completing their academic program at St. Cloud Technical College.
8. Workshops and Cultural Events
Throughout the school year workshops are offered on study skills, financial aid, career choices, transfer to four year college, self esteem and communication. Cultural events and presentations are also offered.
How To Apply
1. Call 320-202-6490 to receive application or just stop by the Success Center, Room 1-121.
2. Turn in the completed application with income/disability documentation to the Success Center.
