Supplemental Support Services
In keeping with the intent of Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the "Policy for Students with Disabilities" as written in Chapter 173, Minnesota Laws, 1991, the following options and information are supplied to those who may seek assistance in accessing college support services for students with disabilities.
Accomodations Guidelines
- Be a self-advocate; know your needs and the menu of services, ask for accommodations.
- Allow plenty of time for us to supply the necessary services; two or more weeks is usually needed to provide signing interpreters, textbooks on tape, notetakers, etc.
- The college needs documentation concerning your disability. Documnetation must be current, signed by an appropriate professional, i.e., a psychologist, medical doctor, psychiatrist, etc., and must include assessment results, a diagnosis of disability, and recommended accommodations. High school IEP's should also be submitted with the official documentation. These documents are held in a confidential file in order to help us better meet your support service needs.
Alternate formats such as tapes, large print or braille are available by contacting the Academic Achievement Center.
